Développement de nouveaux traitements laser pour les femmes atteintes de douleurs lors des relations sexuelles
La douleur chronique vulvaire affecte 18% des femmes. La vestibulodynie provoquée est reconnue comme la cause principale de douleur vulvaire. Les femmes qui en souffrent voient plusieurs sphères de leur vie affectées par cette condition. La vestibulodynie peut avoir un effet négatif sur la sphère sexuelle, relationnelle et psychologique.
Pour certaines femmes, les douleurs se poursuivent malgré les traitements disponibles en ce moment. Depuis quelques années, il y a un intérêt grandissant pour le laser haute intensité et son utilisation dans le traitement de diverses problématiques gynécologiques. C’est pourquoi le laser est une modalité prometteuse qui pourrait être une solution de choix pour les femmes atteintes de vestibulodynie provoquée. Cette étude visait à évaluer l'acceptabilité et la faisabilité d'une étude évaluant l’efficacité du laser haute intensité (appareil homologué par Santé Canada) pour diminuer la douleur lors des relations sexuelles chez les femmes atteintes.
